What is the application process?
Applications must be submitted online through the Center for Scholarship Administration (CSA) website. There are three steps to complete the application:
1. Click the "create application" button below to answer the prequalifying questions. When you submit these, it will automatically take you to the profile page.
2. Create or update your profile. Save and continue to the online application.
3. Complete the online application. A confirmation email will be sent when the online portion of your application is complete. Applicant should contact CSA if a confirmation email is not received.
4. Mail in, or email, the packet of additional required materials. See "What constitutes a complete application" below.

- Who is eligible to apply for a scholarship?
-Applicants must be high school seniors or students already attending an accredited public or private college or university, or a technical, community or vocational school in North America.
- Applicants must be dependent children of qualified employees of LKQ Corporation. A dependent child is defined as a natural, adopted, or resident stepchild of a qualified employee. A qualified employee is an employee of LKQ within North America (i) who has been continuously employed by LKQ for a minimum of one year prior to the submission deadline, and (ii) who is employed by LKQ on the date the scholarship is awarded.
These are not eligible:
-Those persons who receive scholarship funds from the Automotive Recyclers Association are NOT ELIGIBLE to receive scholarship funds from the LKQ Joseph M. Holsten Scholarship Program.
-These scholarships may not be used for graduate school. -
By what date must all application materials be received?
The deadline for submitting the online portion of the application is 5:00 pm EST on . The additional application materials must be mailed in ONE envelope to the LKQ Joseph M. Holsten Scholarship- North America, PO BOX 1465, Taylors, SC 29687 and must be RECEIVED no later than 5:00 pm EST on .
- What constitutes a complete application packet?
In addition to completing the online portion of the application, the applicant must submit the following additional materials:
• Signed Student Authorization and Acknowledgements Form, found in the online application, signed by the scholarship candidate.
Download the Student Authorization and Acknowledgements Form.• an OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTwith grades and cumulative GPA posted through the Fall 2022 semester. (It must be OFFICIAL)
• a SIGNED LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION from a teacher or professor.
• a PERSONAL STATEMENT/ESSAY. The applicant must submit a signed one-page personal statement explaining why the scholarship is important to the applicant. Include college and/or career plans, if known. Also include the applicant's name and the name of scholarship on the one-page personal statement.
• a LIST OF YOUR ACADEMIC HONORS, LEADERSHIP SKILLS, COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS, EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES, OR OTHER ITEMS YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE CONSIDERED.
• For applicants in the U.S. - Page 1 of your 2024-2025 FAFSA Submission Summary, which includes your name and SAI (Student Aid Index). This is the report you receive after completing your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).

- What is the value of the scholarship award?
Award amounts will be $ 2,500 per school year per recipient. Funds must be applied to tuition, fees, books or supplies.
- What school may I attend?
A recipient must plan to enroll in undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year public or private college or university, or a technical, community or vocational school (or equivalent).
Further, the institution must be an educational organization that normally maintains a regular faculty and curriculum and normally has a regularly enrolled body of pupils or students in attendance at the place where its educational activities are regularly carried on. To the extent the institution is involved in the selection of the recipients (if at all), such involvement must comply with the Fund's policy of awarding scholarships on an objective and non-discriminatory basis and must not violate the Fund's Conflict of Interest Policy.
Full-time and part-time enrollment is acceptable, but scholarships may not be used for graduate school. -
What if the applicant is unable to attend consecutive semesters?
Extenuating circumstances requiring a student to sit out a semester must be explained in writing to CSA. You will be notified of the final decision. If a recipient is out for a semester and doesn`t receive approval, then the scholarship for that semester is forfeited.

How are the recipients of the scholarship awards selected?
The Center for Scholarship Administration, Inc. (CSA), a non-profit, independent organization is the facilitator of the scholarship program. CSA's Scholarship Selection Committee considers the respective ability, educational goals, financial need, and career ambitions of each applicant.

How will I be notified if I am chosen as a recipient?
CSA's Scholarship Selection Committee will notify all recipients via email.

Is this scholarship renewable?
Scholarships are not renewable; however, current recipients may re-apply and be considered in competition with all other applicants. The maximum number of years a recipient may receive a scholarship award is four (4) years.
